The current Broadway revival of La Cage aux Folles will embark on a national tour in the fall of 2011. The show has been nominated for 11 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. No casting has been set for the tour, which will feature the work of the Tony-nominated creative team led by director Terry Johnson and choreographer Lynne Page.
La Cage aux Folles opened at Broadway's Longacre Theatre on April 18 with a cast led by Tony nominees Kelsey Grammer as Georges and Douglas Hodge as Albin. The current revival began at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory in November 2007 and transferred to the West End in October 2008. The show features music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and book by Harvey Fierstein, based on the play by Jean Poiret.
The national tour of La Cage will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, David Babani and Fran and Barry Weissler.
